I get such a kick out of my kiddos...

everyday is something new with them. I new know what the day will hold for us as we discover new things together. Here are some exaples of the latest things we have explored together.

Nate is a fan of the PBS show - Sid, the Science Kid and a couple times in the last few months they have shown a show all about levers. A couple of night ago as we sat down to dinner Nate called to me - Look, mommy, it's a lever" as I turned around - sure enough - he had made this own lever perched by perching his fork on the rim of his plate. It just dumbfounded me. Earlier today then - he called to me to see his latest lever - a tower of legos perched over another tower of legos. What a smarty pants!

Rachel has FINALLY gotten over her fear of the slide at the park yesterday (Mother's Day). She recieved some sweet encouragement from a grandmother there & the rest is history - she spent the rest of our time at the park gleefully climbing the steps to the slide, sliding down, & repeating the process over & over.

Adventures in Potty Training

I have now entered the world of potty training; somehow I thought it might be more gratifying. I am surrounded these days by bottomless children, panies & underwear, air fresher, & mountains of laundry. Still, this is a sign of brighter days where no one in the house will wear a diaper and we shall be doing our part to help planet earth. Meanwhile - my sanity has gone out the window as my ds didn't realize he needed to put the seat up on the potty to go pee (for heavens sake, why was it down?). Did I mention the fights over m&m's - the deemed reward for going potty in the potty?

Not Quite What We Had Planned..

but we are still surviving here in Idaho. The kids & I have been here since the 4th of July & Brian rejoined us early last month finally. The job hunt for either of us had been slow & not very productive until recently. I finally got a job at the local Target & have a job interview at the nearby library Thursday! Target is going well & I really do enjoy it (I work as a cashier) & the discount helps. The job at the library is as a page but it would be a really nice environment to work in I think & I already know most of the employees there by name since I spend so much time there. Brian is still looking - the job that we though was kinda a sealed deal is taking much longer to get back to us - they did say though finally that they would probably get back to us by the middle of the month. He is meanwhile trying to get hired on at the local Pizza Hut since he has a good track record there to help with the cash flow & he planned on working there anyhow on the weekends for extra cash. He takes care of the kiddos righ now on the days I work so at least we aren't paying for childcare yet.

Nate is thriving considering all the changes he has been through these last few months. I have decided now though - once & for all - he HAS to get potty trained. We have just recently discovered a online site (www.starfall.com) with cool games about the alphabet & reading & so everyday he asks to do the ABC's - which means - he wants to go to that website and do the activities there. Rachel & he have just recently redisovered the joy of "Ring Around the Rosies." - after say the 5th time though mom & dad get pretty bored with it.

Rachel will be 2 in January - I am dumbfouned my little girl is growing up so fast! She loves that we have a dog here, someone here size (her cousin Jeffery) to pick on & play with, & the word "no." She has finally discovered the joy of feeding herself & she (like with most everything else she does) seems to favor the left hand so we may have a lefty in our family. She has also discovered babies & is quite interested in the babies we see at church.

More to come soon,

I promise!

Moving...again

Tomorrow we start a new adventure as our little family drives off to move to Boise, ID. We expect to arrive sometime last the 3rd or early the 4th & Sally, Nate, & Rachel will move in with Jeremy & Gwen Hanson (Brian's brother & his wife & baby) & live with them for awhile while Brian finishes up school here in TX at TSTC. Brian will then cme up in early September. Jeremy, on the other hand, will have left already or be leaving soon to come to TX for training since he just enlisted in the Idaho National Guard. Brian & I will stay with Gwen & Jeffery (their baby) until Jeremy gets back.

We are thrilled (NOT!!) to be making another long car trip with two young kids who hate to sit still. We are hoping that the laptop playing movies, new books, lots of yummy snacks, & running around at all the rest stops will help make this trip a little easier.

We can't wait to be near so many of Brian's family & hope we get to stay up in Idaho for more than just a few years.

More later once we get there!

Easter Egg Hunt Pictures

We had a lovely time Good Friday having a Easter Egg Hunt at the Webb's (my parent's) house.
Aunt Debby hid nearly 100 easter eggs that were contributed by everyone for the kids to hunt for. Nate, Cassie (my niece), & I (Sally - hunting on Rachel's behalf since she was napping) had lots of fun searching for Easter eggs. Aunt Debby gave each of her nieces & her nephew cute fun-filled Easter baskets with candy, scented bubbles, a small Easter stuffed animal, & much more. Mommy (Sally) then went to have a nice lunch @ Olive Garden with a good friend from church while Daddy & the kiddos hung out @ the Webb's. We also - before the easter egg hunt - I did a spiritual thought/ message about the true meaning of Easter using the "Ressurection Eggs."

Hope you enjoy the pics!

The Making of A Sane Mother

It has finally happened - I feel I have offically gone now from being a insane, overwhelmed, & at times expasarated mother of two youngsters now almost 14 months (Rachel) & almost 3 years (Nate) to now feeling sane, happy, & loving every minute of motherhood & it's adventures! I have whole-heartedly decided now that I plan to homeschool Nate through at least kindergarten & am quite excited by the possiblities that opens for us as mother & son. I will also do the same with Rachel.

Nate has now become a very obedient child - not just for others but me - a HUGE leap for us! He also has outrightly expressed the desire to learn to go potty like a big boy so I plan to have him potty-trained by the end of the summer. He talks nonstop & with great clarity it is amazing! I can understand most everything he says & he is extremely self-sufficent which is a thrill to watch! I hate to see how he needs me so little now but he is still my cuddly boy like always!

More later, bye for now!

Times flies

I can't believe I haven't posted in sooo long! We had such fun over the holidays & can't believe 2008 has come & we are already several month into it.

Brian is in his 2nd to last semester at school & I - for a fact, can attest to the fact that he is soooooo ready to be done. My gig at Camp Fire didn't work out so he is still with Pizza Hut much to our dismay. We just keep reminding ourselves that in less than 8 months he can probably ditch them.

I (Sally) am enjoying being at home with the kids for the most part. I struggle with anxiety/depression so late last fall on got onto meds to help with that. Lucky for me - a little goes a long way. I am busy trying to keep expenses down, fulfill callings, & "homeschool" Nate. I currently serve on the Enrichment Board & as Ward Music Coordinator (fairly new to this one)

Nate is being terriffic or terrible - depending on the day or mom's mood. This morning he was trying to feed a stuffed animal some Fruit Loops - last night - not so cute - he ran off from me 3+ times at Target & each time it took a good bit to find him - sending mom into panic mode. He is learning & catching on to number really well- he often points out numbers as he sees them & can find "matches" of numbers around the house. Sharing is a little more difficult. He has helped make cookies several times in the last few month though & is great at pouring ingredients in. He will be 3 in April & once it gets a little warmer - we hope to start the adventures of potty training.

Rachel turned 1 in January & out of nowhere in December she finally decided to crawl & now she is all over the place. She loves to still be held a lot though. She hates to be left with anyone - esp if she can see mom or dad in view. She loves lots of different foods but bread, mac & cheese , & Kix are some of her favorites right now.

2008 has blessed us so much already - we have paid off our Honda with our income tax refund, seen a missionary leave from our family, gone on one family trip (to see missionary off) , experienced the joy of missionary work & we are reminded once more of the blessing of having the true gospel in our lives.
